AAUW (formerly known as The American Association of University Women) is a nationwide network of more than 100,000 members and donors, 1,000 branches, and 500 college/university partners.

For more than 128 years, AAUW members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day--educational, social, economic, and political.  Our commitment ot our mission is reflected in all aspects of our work.

AAUW has a history and tradition of supporting education for women and girls through the Education Foundation. The Legal Advocacy Fund supports women who are seeking legal remedies to discrimination in the workplace. AAUW has also been the sponsor for several significant research studies examining such issues as gender bias in the classroom, sexual harassment in schools and the transition of women into new workforce roles. AAUW recently celebrated its 125th anniversary. The Butler Branch is part of a state organization as well as the national association. In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. Membership
AAUW is open to all graduates who hold an associate (or equivalent) or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
